Older homes have always caused some angst over storage. In Europe most of the homes that I’ve had some access to don’t even have closets that most homes in the U.S. have (even small ones). So how do you make storage where there is none? A few ideas come from a small apartment that I worked in here in Wilmington, NC. The kitchen had lower cabinets, but no upper cabinet storage, so we installed shelving to hold dishes and glasses. The lower cabinets were hard to access, so I suggested pull out drawers for easier access. Sometimes you will find a good place to store things is in the eaves, between the walls and the roof if the area is accessible. Using shelf units that can have curtains installed around them is another way to have hideaway storage.
